About Our School
Principal's Welcome
A message from our principal
Welcome to Holy Family
Welcome to Holy Family Catholic Primary School, Karama. We are committed to fostering a nurturing and safe environment that actively encourages family and community engagement. We offer a values-focused Catholic co-education, where mercy, respect, and courage are central to all we do.
Our goal is to provide a rich and engaging educational experience, where all students have opportunities for exploration, imagination, and investigation. Holy Family delivers an inclusive curriculum that supports the holistic needs of every student — celebrating diversity and supporting each student's unique learning journey.
We are committed to personalised education, ensuring every student can reach their full potential. We believe teaching should engage, inspire and challenge students as they navigate and participate in our rapidly changing world.
At Holy Family we have a dedicated and professional staff with a focus on empowering students to have voice and agency in their learning through ongoing teacher feedback and student goal setting. It is both an honour and a privilege to serve this wonderful community — we would love to hear from you.

Our Story
Where We Are
Holy Family is situated in Karama, one of Darwin's northern suburbs — close to a shopping centre, Leanyer Water Park, and about 15 minutes from Darwin CBD. Holy Family Parish Church and O'Loughlin Catholic College are right next door.
Our History
Our school was built and opened in 1983. Proximity to O'Loughlin Middle and Senior School means families have the opportunity to educate their children from primary school through to the completion of secondary studies — all in the one location.
Our Programs
We offer an Early Learning Community for two and a half to five year olds, with long term day care, educational programs, and experimental play. After School Care and Vacation Care programs are also available for working families.

Our Approach
Learning Powers
Our Learning Powers project began in 2015, supported by an educational consultant to implement ongoing improvement in the school. It is about students learning how they learn — developing deep, engaged learners who are architects of their own education.
Learning Power uses current research to support teachers to grow their practice in the classroom. With teachers and parents supporting each other, Holy Family is working at the forefront of education.
