About Our ELC
Also known as Rainbows
Welcome to Rainbows
Holy Family Early Learning Centre offers an educational care program for children aged three to five that includes a pre-school program. Our centre, also referred to as Rainbows, has just been renovated and now looks amazing!
With our huge, natural outdoor play area, we provide quality care with qualified and stable staff to families in the Northern Suburbs of Darwin and beyond. We value your support and contributions, which assist us in maintaining a high quality of service to your family.
To ensure we provide the highest quality care and education, we follow established guidelines, policies and procedures based on the national Early Years Learning Framework.

Our Story & Values
History & Philosophy
Our History
How Rainbows began
The ELC opened in 2003 under then Principal Margaret Hughes. The name ‘Rainbows’ was given to the service and is still used today to identify our 2 and 3 year old children. In 2015 we added a dedicated pre-school room with a trained teacher. In 2019 we renovated our rooms, added an extra toilet and capped numbers at 50. Most recently, a brand new playground was installed.
When we ask our school-aged students when they started with us, they always say ‘Rainbows!’ We have families with children in our ELC, students in our school and older siblings at the adjoining O’Loughlin Catholic College.
Our Philosophy
How we nurture every child
Our Early Learning Centre has a strong connection with the School community and our Catholic Faith to ensure the children feel a sense of belonging. We value collaboration between families and staff while being led by the children through their interests — encouraging a desire for learning that, if nurtured, will continue throughout their schooling years and beyond.
Our priorities are that our children feel safe, loved, respected and empowered.

What Makes Us Special
Our Community
Our Space
Freshly renovated rooms and a massive natural outdoor learning area make Rainbows a wonderful place to grow. A brand new playground was recently installed and continues to be enjoyed every day by our children.
Our Staff
We work hard at attracting quality carers — and when they arrive, they tend to stay for a long time. We feel this reflects the great service and families that come to our school. Stability and experience mean the world to our children and their families.
School Connection
Buddy Classes from the school regularly visit and work with our ELC students. Our transition to school program ensures every pre-schooler is ready and confident to join big school the following year.

The EYLF underpins all we do at Rainbows — from how we set up our environment, to how we plan around children’s interests, to the way we partner with families. It ensures every child belongs, contributes and thrives.
